Black Flag Resynced sold more than 3 million copies in a week, and New Game+ is next
Black Flag Resynced did not need long to find its audience again. Ubisoft says Edward Kenway's rebuilt Caribbean adventure passed three million copies sold within a week, and the same update quietly confirmed what many of those early buyers will eventually have to come back for: New Game+.
The first day did most of the heavy lifting
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced launched on July 9 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Ubisoft reported two million copies sold on its first day, then more than three million after one week.
Its Steam launch also produced a peak of 99,451 concurrent players within the first 24 hours. Ubisoft described that as the highest concurrent-player figure an Assassin's Creed game has recorded on Steam. Concurrent players and copies sold are different measurements, but both point to an unusually concentrated opening for the remake.
New Game+ has a name, not a date
Ubisoft has confirmed that New Game+ is being added, without yet defining the rules of the mode. There is no official list of which weapons, upgrades, ship progression or other inventory will carry into another run.
The August 4 Title Update 1.0.6 did not introduce it. That patch expanded autosave history from five slots to ten, added an option to hide Edward's blowpipe and fixed a long list of gameplay, quest and presentation issues.
For now, New Game+ remains an announced post-launch feature without a deployment date.
Resynced had more than nostalgia to sell
Ubisoft Singapore rebuilt Black Flag on the current Anvil engine rather than treating the 2013 game as a conventional remaster. Combat, stealth, parkour and naval systems were changed, while ray-traced lighting, a new water simulation and dynamic weather overhaul the presentation.
The remake also extends Edward's story. A World Without Gold adds eight endgame missions centered on Blackbeard, Stede Bonnet receives a new epilogue, and Matt Ryan returned to record additional material for Edward Kenway.
Ubisoft has not published a more recent sales milestone than the figure announced on July 17.
